Zelenskyy holds closed-door meeting with key law enforcement,military leaders
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has met with key officials from Ukraine’s security forces and military on August 1 to understand the current situation in Ukraine, he reported on Telegram.
He was updated on the attacks in Ukraine’s border regions, as well as the night drone attack on Kharkiv, by Internal Affairs Ministry head Ihor Klymenko.
Zelenskyy said that the Russian army attacked the city with five Shahed suicide drones.
He was also updated by Security Service of Ukraine head Vasyl Malyuk on the cleanup of Kryvyi Rih and Kherson following the shelling of the cities.
Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhnyi provided a report on the situation at the front, with generals Oleksandr Syrskyi and Oleksandr Tarnavskyi also providing input.
Zelenskyy received an update on Ukrainian air defense by Air Force commander Lieutenant General Mykola Oleschuk.
In an in-camera session, intelligence head Kyrylo Budanov provided the president with his latest information.
Russian troops launched a missile attack on Kryvyi Rih on July 31, hitting two buildings – a high-rise building and a four-story Polytechnic Institute.
The occupiers launched Iskander missiles from Dzhankoy in the temporarily occupied Crimea, said Zelenskyy.
Six people died, including a 10-year-old child. More than 80 people were injured, including seven children.
Russian troops attacked Kherson and region on the same day, killing four people and injuring more than 20, including a volunteer.
The occupiers hit densely populated areas of Kharkiv with Shahed drones on the night of August 1, causing mass destruction.
