Ukraine’s SBU involved in both Crimean Bridge attacks, confirms National Security Secretary

Ukraine was involved in both attacks on Russia’s illegal Crimean Bridge, Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Secretary, Oleksiy Danilov, confirmed on national TV on Aug. 3.
The Ukrainian military has raised doubts about the invulnerability of several objects previously believed to be 100% secure by Russia.
“This includes the Crimean Bridge, as mentioned directly by representatives of the Security Service, who were involved in both incidents,” Danilov said.
Vasyl Maliuk, the SBU chief, first acknowledged on July 26 that Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) was responsible for the explosion of the Crimean Bridge on Oct. 8 last year.
“The destruction of the Crimean Bridge is one of our accomplishments,” said Maliuk.
He expressed gratitude to SBU personnel for their efforts and hoped that the number of their successful combat missions would match the number of safe returns to their places of deployment.
The attack on the Crimean Bridge on July 17 – What is known
In the latest attack on the night of July 17, two explosions rang out on the bridge, halting all traffic. The Russian-installed leader of the occupation administration in Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, announced that there had been an “emergency situation”, and the Russian public wrote about serious damage to at least one section of the road bridge. Russian occupation authorities later announced the restoration of railway traffic across the bridge.
A source of NV in the law enforcement agencies reported that the SBU and Ukrainian Navy had been involved in the nighttime operation. According to the source, the bridge was attacked by uncrewed surface vessels, or sea drones.
One span of the road section of the Crimean Bridge cannot be repaired and would have to be replaced, , announced Russian Vice-Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
This is the second attack on the Crimean bridge, which Russia uses to transfer armored vehicles and manpower to support its military occupation of the south of Ukraine. On Oct. 8, 2022, several sections of the road bridge collapsed as a result of a powerful explosion, which also set fire to a train filled with fuel on the railway section of the bridge. The fire damaged both the track and the bridge structure, but the Russians were able to restore rail traffic shortly after.
The Kremlin regime accused Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine or HUR, of organizing the sabotage.
The HUR has denied the Kremlin’s claims, describing them as them “delusional.”
