Russia likely found way to disrupt Starlink connectivity — report

When Russian forces launched the Kharkiv offensive on May 10, defending Ukrainian troops found their Starlink terminals unresponsive, The Washington Post reported on May 17.
The journalists spoke to soldiers serving with Ukraine’s 125th Territorial Defense Brigade, who said that Russian electronic interference had shut down Starlink connectivity near the border. That meant that the defending units were unable to use their recon drones as enemy troops poured into Kharkiv Oblast.
“We were left at a certain point completely blind,” a Ukrainian drone unit commander said.
“This was the biggest problem, we didn’t see how they were moving, we only worked through radio or through phones where they still worked.”
The report notes that it was the first time Starlink terminals (manufactured and serviced by SpaceX) were successfully disabled on the battlefield.
