Toretsk devastation captured by Ukrainian photographers
Ukrainian photographers Vlada and Kostiantyn Liberov shared images on Instagram on July 25, showing the devastating aftermath of the fighting in Toretsk, Donetsk Oblast.
"I remember very well when I first flew a drone over Bakhmut in December 2022," the post read.
"We remember those feelings when you see for the first time with your own eyes what war does on the scale of a whole city."
The couple used to believe that "in Bakhmut itself, we could stop this cancerous growth."
"Two years have passed, and I lost count of how many times I have seen the same picture," Kostiantyn said.
"All Ukrainian cities are different, with different characters and rhythms of life. Russia makes them the same: there is nothing diverse in death."
The photos show destroyed buildings, scorched city streets, remnants of weapons, and debris from ammunition scattered across the roads. Thick smoke rises into the sky.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
