Tennis player Yastremska writes patriotic inscription onto camera following quarterfinal win at Australia Open
Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremska defeated her Czech opponent, Linda Noskova, at the quarterfinals of the Australian Open on Jan. 24 in Melbourne, securing her road to the semifinals.
Following her 6-3, 6-4 victory, Yastremska ran to a nearby camera and inscribed a patriotic message onto it with a marker.
“I’m proud of our fighting people,” she wrote. “Slava Ukraine.”
Yastremska will go up against the victor of the quarterfinal bout between Russia’s Anna Kalinskaya, playing under a neutral flag, and China’s Qinwen Zheng, in a semifinals match on Jan. 25.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
