Russian forces struck Odesa on Saturday, July 18, damaging infrastructure and causing casualties, City Military Administration head Serhii Lysak said.
Russia also carried out a large-scale attack on port infrastructure in Odesa Oblast, regional governor Oleh Kiper said.
A foreign merchant vessel sailing under the flag of Antigua and Barbuda was struck in the Black Sea, killing one person and injuring three others, Kiper said. Buildings, storage tanks and warehouses were also destroyed.
Russian forces launched a follow-up strike as emergency crews were responding to the attack, damaging specialized rescue equipment. No emergency personnel were injured, Kiper said.
Another overnight strike on port infrastructure damaged a foreign civilian vessel sailing under the flag of the Marshall Islands and injured four crew members, the Odesa Oblast Military Administration said earlier.
Russia attacked Ukraine overnight with 90 drones, including jet-powered Shahed drones, and seven Iskander, Oniks and Kh-59/69 missiles, the Ukrainian military said. Odesa Oblast was the primary target of the attack.
The Ukrainian Air Force issued another warning on the morning of July 18 about jet-powered drones heading toward Chornomorsk and Odesa.
