Zelenskyy holds meeting to discuss winter preparedness, army equipment supply, and Russian plans

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting on Aug. 17 on the current situation in Ukraine and future steps to be taken to fight off Russian aggression, a message on the president’s Telegram channel reads.
A range of topics were covered in talks, the message says.
Zelenskyy emphasized that his administration maintains continuous oversight over the supply of equipment and ammunition, as well as the pace of domestic production.
“The foreign and defense ministries have been tasked with collaborating with partners to ensure that the forthcoming defense packages include precisely what is required,” Zelenskyy said.
“Intelligence reports on the enemy’s tactical and strategic plans, along with the status of their military-industrial complex, were presented,” he added.
The meeting also included discussions about preparing the Ukrainian energy system and civil defense measures for the upcoming winter season. Matters related to mitigating consequences resulting from shelling civilian objects and evacuations from the Kupyansk district were also addressed.
“Assistance for those affected, construction of new housing in the Kherson and Kyiv oblasts, and the operation of the ‘grain corridor’ have all seen initial progress. We are preparing subsequent measures,” Zelenskyy said in summary.
On Aug. 16, the Ukrainian President chaired a meeting of the High Command, during which he received updates on the military situation in the eastern and southern regions of the country.
Before that, Zelenskyy visited Ukrainian troops in Zaporizhzhya Oblast.
