Zelenskyy arrives in the Netherlands to discuss transfer of F-16 fighter jets
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is in
the Netherlands today to meet with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte about the transfer of F-16 jets, his team reported on social media.
“The main issue is F-16s for Ukraine to protect our people from Russian terror," the president said on Telegram after he and his wife, First Lady Olena Zelenska arrived on an official visit.
"We are getting stronger. The agenda also includes the Global Peace Summit, the Peace Formula, and bringing the terrorist state to justice."
Rutte posted a picture of their greeting and captioned it with welcoming words:
"Welcome back to the Netherlands."
The visit came just two days after the announcement that the country together with Denmark will transfer F-16 fighter jets on behalf of the U.S. The relevant foreign ministries have confirmed the announcement.
Zelenskyy visited Sweden yesterday, on Aug. 19, where he met with the King of Sweden, the Prime Minister, and the Speaker of the Parliament.
The supply of the warplanes was also on the table in Sweden. Ukrainian pilots have started training on Sweden-made Gripen fighters, Zelenskyy said during a joint press conference with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson in Stockholm. Swedish warplanes were also discussed during the visit.
The production and maintenance of the Swedish CV-90 infantry fighting vehicles in Ukraine was also announced by Zelenskyy.
