Zelenskyy appeals to NATO Military Committee Chair for more air defense

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met
with NATO Military Committee Chairman Lieutenant-Admiral Rob
Bauer in Kyiv, according to a message on the president’s website on March
21.
One of the main topics of discussion was the reinforcement of Ukraine's air defenses.
“We discussed Ukraine's immediate defense needs and the need for additional air defense systems,” the message quotes Zelenskyy.
“This can help to reliably protect Ukrainians from Russian missile and drone attacks.”
According to the President's Office, Zelenskyy and Bauer discussed the enhancement of NATO's role in supporting Ukraine, specifically in strengthening defense capabilities and developing the country's military potential in accordance with NATO standards.
“We count on fair assessments of our country's achievements and [corresponding] decisions at the [upcoming Summer NATO] Washington summit that could bring Ukraine closer to membership in the Alliance,” Zelenskyy said.
Bauer arrived in Kyiv on March 21. "My visit—the first NATO military delegation to Ukraine following the full-scale [Russian] invasion—is proof that NATO and Ukraine are closer than ever," the Dutch admiral said.
