Zaluzhnyi presents ambassadorial credentials in London
Former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi has presented copies of his credentials to UK authorities and officially became Ukraine’s Ambassador in London, the Ukrainian Embassy in the UK announced on July 11.
"I continue to serve Ukraine," Zaluzhnyi wrote in a Telegram post later.
He specified the credentials were presented to Victoria Busby, Director of Protocol and Vice-Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps at the Foreign Office.
“Ukraine's victory in the war against Russian aggression remains a top priority for my and the embassy’s work,” Zaluzhnyi added.
On Feb. 8, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Zaluzhnyi as Commander-in-Chief. On March 7, it became known that Zelenskyy tapped Zaluzhnyi to serve as Ukraine’s ambassador to the UK. The president stated that the general had requested the assignment himself.
On May 9, Zelenskyy appointed Zaluzhnyi as Ukraine's ambassador to the UK through a presidential decree.
