White House once again urges Congress to approve Ukraine aid package
Without the U.S.
Congress approving additional funds, the United States will soon run out of
cash to sustain the Ukrainian military, U.S. National Security Adviser Jake
Sullivan said on Dec. 4.
"We don't have a magic pot of money somewhere," Sullivan told reporters.
"We need a bipartisan Congressional decision to support the financing because there's no way to avoid the simple math: If there's no funding for providing weapons to Ukraine, we simply can't continue to supply them."
Sullivan also said that a "very strong" majority of both Democrats and Republicans support aid to Ukraine, giving no reason why this issue couldn't be brought to a vote in both chambers of Congress.
"If this is put to a vote, we will see overwhelming bipartisan support for providing this funding," the official said.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that President Joe Biden's administration sent Congress an urgent warning about the need to approve tens of billions of dollars in military and economic aid to Ukraine.
On Oct. 20, the White House requested nearly $106 billion from Congress for Ukraine, Israel, and other priority areas.
White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said on Nov. 3 that Washington had begun sending smaller packages of military aid to Ukraine to continue support while Congress was at an "impasse" over funding.
Bloomberg previously reported that the U.S. Congress might delay voting on military aid to Ukraine until mid-December or even later.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
