A video circulating on local social media platforms has captured the extensive damage inflicted on the Prince Trubetskoy winery in Ukraine's frontline Kherson Oblast, raising doubts about the facility's ability to resume normal operations soon.
"The KAB (glide bomb) hit," a voiceover in the video states, highlighting the severity of the attack.
During the occupation of the region at the onset of the full-scale invasion, Russian forces looted the winery's storied wine collection, which included seven bottles dating back to the early 20th century. Although parts of Kherson Oblast were liberated in November 2022, the situation at the winery remains precarious. "We don't know what condition the chateau is in today. Despite the liberation of Kherson, it is extremely dangerous to be on the territory of the winery," representatives from the winery in the village of Vesele reported.
The Prince Trubetskoy Winery, known for its high-quality wines, has faced significant challenges since the Russian invasion. The owners have since relocated production to neighbouring Odesa Oblast, launching a new brand, Stoic Wines. This move aims to preserve the winery’s traditions and maintain quality amidst ongoing war difficulties.
