US to supply 155mm shells to Ukraine via Bulgaria, South Korea, possibly Japan - FT

The US has reached a deal with Bulgaria and South Korea to supply 155mm shells to Ukraine and is engaged in negotiations with Japan to do the same, the Financial Times reported on August 1.
Washington is seeking ways to ramp up the supply of the extremely important 155mm shells used by howitzers in Ukraine. US officials have said that around 8,000 are used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on a daily basis.
The Biden administration has been aware of the unprecedented rates of ammunition consumption in Ukraine and the hurdles the country faces with ammunition delivery, FT said.
The US is seeking to increase munition supplies for Ukraine via its allies alongside ramping up domestic production over the next two years.
New enterprises that will produce 155mm shells may be established in Arkansas, Iowa and Kansas, the newspaper's sources in the US military said.
