Tucker Carlson to interview Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Moscow

Former Fox News talk show host Tucker Carlson announced via a video posted on his X (Twitter) account on Feb. 6 that he will be interviewing Russian President Vladimir Putin during his ongoing trip to Moscow.
“There are risks to conducting an interview like this, obviously,” Carlson said.
“So we have thought about it carefully over many months.”
A long-time defender of Putin’s authoritarian regime considers it his “duty as a journalist” to “inform people.” No Western journalist has yet “managed to interview” the Kremlin dictator Putin, and it’s alleged that Americans were not “informed” about it.
He referred to the war in Ukraine as a “conflict,” avoiding mentioning the full-scale Russian invasion and crimes. He stated the “war in Ukraine” began and caused hundreds of thousands of deaths.
He claimed to have requested an interview with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office. He criticized Zelenskyy’s interviews in the USA, labeling them as “fawning pep sessions” rather than traditional interviews.
The U.S. President administration purportedly attempted to hinder his communication with the Russian dictator and aimed to prevent a second attempt, claimed Carlson.
“We are not here because we love Vladimir Putin,” he said.
“We are here because we love the United States.”
Carlson echoed Russian propaganda by suggesting that “Western governments” fear uncontrolled information. Additionally, he stated that Elon Musk, the owner of X, promised “not to suppress or block this interview.”
“We are not encouraging you to agree with what Putin may say in this interview, but we are urging you to watch it,” Carlson added in the address.
One of Carlson’s objectives in Moscow might be to secure an interview with Putin, Bloomberg reported on Feb. 5, citing anonymous Kremlin sources. Dmitry Peskov, Putin’s press secretary, declined to confirm this information on Feb. 5, stating that the Kremlin would notify reporters if such an interview were arranged.
Carlson left Fox News in disgrace in April, 2023, after which he launched his own show on X (Twitter).
Carlson has been accused of spreading lies and Russian propaganda, openly supporting Russia’s war against Ukraine. For instance, he falsely accused Ukraine of bombing the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant without providing evidence. The Detector.media outlet referred to Carlson as “the American Solovyov.”
Carlson claimed in September 2023 that he desired to “interview” Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, but asserted that the U.S. government allegedly hindered his efforts to do so.
