US, Canada impose new sanctions against Russian banks and MIC
The United States and Canada have expanded sanctions
against Russia, targeting individual and enterprises in its banking sector and
military-industrial complex (MIC), according to press releases by U.S. and
Canadian governments made on July 20.
The U.S. Treasury Department reports that the new sanctions have affected Yandex corporate development advisor and former Russian Finance Minister Alexey Kudrin and Alrosa CEO Pavel Marinichev. The list also includes the acting governor of the Smolensk Oblast, Vasily Anokhin, and the deputy head of the FSB, Sergey Korolev.
Some of the notable businesses targeted by the sanctions include:
· Tinkoff Bank JSC;
· Solidarnost Bank
· Klimovsk Specialized Ammunition Plant;
· Tula Cartridge Plant;
· Frunze Arsenal Design Bureau.
The Canadian government's press service reports that the sanction list includes 21 new organizations and 20 individuals.
Canadian sanctions have affected the following companies, among others:
· Tinkoff Bank JSC;
· Bank Tochka;
· MTS;
· Megafon;
· Yandex Pay;
· MIR Card;
· Beeline;
· M-Finans;
· Lakhta Park;
· SMT-iLogic;
· Prime Security and Development Joint Stock Company.
Also on July 20, the UK imposed new sanctions against Russian citizens associated with Wagner Group PMC.
