Ukrainian woman trying to return children illegally deported from occupied territories ‘detained in Moscow’

A Ukrainian citizen was detained in Moscow on May 30 while attempting to repatriate Ukrainian children who had been deported to Russia by the invaders, Russian propaganda outlet RIA Novosti has reported.
The woman was making an effort to take orphaned children out of the country. The children had been taken from the territories of Ukraine occupied by Russian forces.
She reportedly arrived in Russia on a mission for the Save Ukraine Foundation, which aims to facilitate the return to their families of children who were forcibly taken to Russia.
However, the foundation has not yet commented on the information regarding the possible detention of their employee.
The International Criminal Court in The Hague issued arrest warrants for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Russian “Children’s Ombudsman” Maria Lvova-Belova on March 17. They are accused of unlawfully deporting children from Ukraine to Russia since Feb. 24, 2022.
On April 27, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopted a resolution recognizing the forced displacement of Ukrainian children to Russia as genocide.
It is estimated that nearly 20,000 Ukrainian children have been deported by Russian authorities from the areas of Ukraine currently under Russian military occupation.
In response to these abductions, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed decrees imposing sanctions against Russian individuals involved in the abduction of Ukrainian children.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
