Ukrainian forces retake key position in Donetsk's New York
Ukrainian Defense Forces have regained a strategic position in New York, Donetsk Oblast, according to DeepState on Thursday, August 8.
Analysts reported that soldiers from the 53rd Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) reclaimed control of the New York Special Boarding School No. 38, where Russian occupiers had raised their tricolor flag. A photo published by DeepState shows the Ukrainian flag now flying over the building.
Meanwhile, the fighting in the area continues, with the situation described as complex, DeepState added.
On Aug. 6, images surfaced online showing the Russian tricolor flag hoisted over the educational building in New York, Donetsk Oblast. Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), refuted claims that the entire town had been captured.
On Aug. 7, DeepState reported the restoration of lost positions in New York.
