The Russian army used Iskander-K cruise missiles to strike Kyiv on June 30, and Ukraine's air defense shot down two missiles, said Ilya Yevlash, spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, on national TV on July 1.
He also commented on the change in Russian tactics for attacking the Ukrainian capital.
"The enemy usually attacks at night; this time they struck in the evening, on a Sunday, on a warm summer day when there were many people," said Yevlash.
The spokesperson added that last night was relatively calm; Russia did not use suicide drones to strike Ukraine. However, Russian strategic aviation remains active.
Russian missile strike on Kyiv and Oblast on June 30
On the evening of June 30, Russia launched a missile attack on Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast. Debris from downed missiles damaged a 14-story building in Kyiv's Obolon district, injuring six people: four women, an 11-year-old girl, and a man.
The Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that all targets were shot down, but debris fell in one of the region's districts. Three people were injured, and houses and cars were damaged.
Later, the State Emergency Service added that a fire station was also damaged.
