Situation near Avdiivka stabilizes amid decline in Russian attacks, says Tavria Group spokesman

The Avdiivka sector situation is stabilizing, although the Russian army is still having "local successes," Tavria Operational-Strategic Group spokesman Dmytro Lykhoviy said on national television on Mar. 3.
Ukrainian troops have successfully repelled 14 Russian attacks in the last day, the lowest number in recent days.
"According to the confirmed data, the operational situation is stabilizing in the areas of the three villages that are of most interest to everyone: Berdychi, Orlivka and Tonenke," he said.
“Our forces are holding back the enemy in these settlements, and combat operations are underway.”
The battle line has its own dynamics, but there is no reason to suggest that these settlements have been captured by the Russians.
"The enemy sometimes has local successes in some positions,” he said.
“For example, if firing positions are simply destroyed by artillery, then the (Ukrainian) troops regroup and move to other more favorable positions."
On Feb. 17, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi announced that the Defense Forces had withdrawn from Avdiivka after four months of intense fighting and regular attacks by the Russian Federation. He stated that this decision was made to avoid encirclement and to preserve the lives and health of military personnel.
On Feb. 26, the Tavria Regional Military Command confirmed that the Defense Forces had withdrawn from the village of Lastochkine to organize defense and prevent further advances by Russian forces.
On Feb. 27, Lykhoviy mentioned that the Defense Forces had withdrawn from the small villages of Severne and Stepove in the Avdiivka sector.
On Feb. 28, Lykhoviy stated that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are continuing their defensive operation in the Avdiivka sector.
On Feb. 29, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that the Ukrainian forces had driven out the Russian army out of the village of Orlivka, Donetsk Oblast, and continue to face offensive operations from Russian troops on multiple directions, with particularly tense situations in the Avdiivka and Zaporizhzhya fronts.
"Miscalculations in situational awareness and enemy assessment by some commanders have impacted the resilience of our defense on certain fronts," Syrskyi wrote.
"All necessary measures have been taken to rectify the situation on the ground, including the allocation of additional ammunition and material resources, as well as the necessary reserves."
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
