Ukraine to sign security agreements with US and Japan soon
Ukraine will soon sign bilateral security agreements with the United States and Japan, presidential spokesperson Serhiy Nikiforov told Ukrainian TV broadcasters on June 11.
Nikiforov was commenting on a series of major international events scheduled for this summer: the G7 summit in Italy, the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland, and the NATO summit in Washington.
"We expect to sign bilateral security agreements with the United States and Japan at these upcoming meetings," he said.
At the same time, he did not elaborate on which summit the two deals are expected to be signed.
On June 9, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine and the United States are actively working on a bilateral security agreement.
By this point, Ukraine has already signed bilateral security agreements with the UK, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Latvia, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Iceland, and Norway.
