Ukraine to ban transport links with Russia for 50 years
The Ukrainian government has proposed that
the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC)
consider imposing a 50-year ban on transportation links with Russia, according
to a decree published on Jan. 19.
The document outlines a proposal to the NSDC that includes the following restrictions:
· On direct air travel with Ukraine as well as the use of Ukraine’s airspace;
· On the entry of road vehicles registered in Russia into Ukraine;
· On railway connection;
· On maritime and inland waterway shipping for vessels that are registered in Russia or have ever entered Russia-occupied Ukrainian ports.
Several state agencies have been tasked with ensuring the implementation of the forthcoming NSDC decision, and the Foreign Ministry is to inform Ukraine’s partners about it.
In September 2023, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia banned the entry of vehicles with Russian number plates.
