Ukraine’s SBU seizes ex-MP Novynskyi’s hidden assets worth $287.1 million

Ukraine’s SBU security service has seized hidden assets worth over UAH 10.5 billion ($287.1 million) from Ukrainian oligarch and former pro-Russian MP Vadym Novynskyi, the agency reported on May 4.
“According to the security service’s materials, new assets have been seized from pro-Russian oligarch Vadym Novynskyi, who is involved in aiding the aggressor country,” the report says.
The SBU noted that the list of assets includes 230 real estate properties owned by Novynskyi through an offshore trust fund.
The seized property includes an elite hotel complex in downtown Kyiv, the Ochakiv sea trade port, the premises of an agricultural holding, as well as shopping malls in several Ukrainian regions.
“To implement the arrangement, he involved affiliated private notaries and state registrars.”
“However, the SBU officers exposed the criminal scheme and blocked it.”
On April 13, the court seized property of Novynskyi worth over UAH 3.5 billion ($95.7 million), including corporate rights to 40 Ukrainian enterprises and 30 gas wells.
The criminal investigation continues under the “assistance to the aggressor state” article (Art. 111−2) of Ukraine’s Criminal Code.
