Ukraine gets back bodies of 94 more fallen defenders
Ukraine has repatriated the bodies of 94 servicemen killed in battles against Russian invaders, Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported on Telegram on Nov. 20.
Ukraine also handed over the bodies of Russian combatants in compliance with the norms of International Humanitarian Law.
The Coordination Headquarters carried out the repatriation measures in cooperation with the United Center for Search and Liberation of Captives at the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), the State Emergency Service in the Sumy Oblast, the State Border Guard Service, and representatives of the Red Cross International Committee
The Coordination Headquarters assured that the AFU will oversee the transportation of repatriated bodies and remains to state special institutions. They will be transferred to representatives of law enforcement agencies and forensic experts to establish the identities of the deceased.
On Oct. 27, Ukraine took back the bodies of another 50 of its soldiers.
