Ukrainian parliament passes resolution on possible negotiations with Russia

The Ukrainian parliament has passed Resolution
9626, which rules out making any territorial
concessions in potential future peace negotiations with Russia, the
parliament’s press service reported on Aug. 23.
The document indicates any territorial concessions made to stop the war would be "unacceptable." It also states that all Russian armed forces must withdraw from Ukraine's territory, and the state will continue to put forth "maximum efforts at all levels and in all formats" to liberate Crimea.
The resolution states that Ukraine has implemented, and will continue to employ, every possible measure "for the restoration and enforcement of human and civil rights," violated as a result of Russia’s military aggression and occupation of Crimea.
The text of the document legally establishes priority directions of state policy in "de-occupation, reintegration, and restoration of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol."
On Aug. 15, senior NATO official Stian Jensen suggested the possibility of Ukraine joining the alliance, provided it ceded some of its territories to Russia. He later retracted his statement, calling it a mistake.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has repeatedly stressed that Ukraine will not agree to a frozen conflict, will never opt for territorial concessions, and will free all its territories occupied by Russian troops. He is also convinced that Ukraine would receive an invitation to join NATO after the war ends.
