Almost 1,500 people leave Kharkiv Oblast in three weeks, over 300 of them children

Mandatory evacuations of the population continue in Kupyanskiy District of Kharkiv Oblast, with almost 1,500 people having left in the last three weeks, head of Kharkiv Oblast Military Administration Oleh Synehubov said on his channel on the Telegram messenger app.
He said 715 people had been evacuated, including 165 children, while another 718 people, 178 of them children, had left communities under constant Russian shelling of their own accord.
The mandatory evacuation of residents of a number of communities was announced in Kupyanskiy District of Kharkiv Oblast earlier in August against the background of fears of a renewed offensive by a large build-up of Russian troops on the Kupyanskiy section of the front in Kharkiv Oblast.
Earlier, the head of the press service of the Eastern Group of Forces, Ilya Yevlash, said that Russia has concentrated about 110,000 troops in the Lyman-Kupyansk section of the front line.
Synehubov said that a total of up to 12,000 people may be evacuated from the Kupyanskiy District due to active hostilities.
The UK Defense Intelligence agency in its daily Ukraine situation report on Aug. 26 said that Russia is planning to try to regain the initiative in the war by returning to much wider offensive operations, one of the potential directions of which it said was the Lyman-Kupyansk section of the front.
