Ukrainian forces intercept 12 Russian drones in overnight attack

Ukrainian forces intercepted 12 of 16 Shahed one-way attack drones launched from Russia’s Kursk Oblast, along with one unidentified drone, during an overnight assault, according to Air Force commander Mykola Oleshchuk on Telegram on July 20.
The interception was carried out by mobile firing groups, anti-aircraft units, and electronic warfare teams.
In addition to the drones, Russia fired three Iskander-M ground-launched ballistic missiles from Voronezh Oblast and one Iskander-K cruise missile at Ukraine.
Air raid alerts were declared in Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kyiv oblasts, with explosions reported in the city of Myrhorod and Kyiv. In Kyiv, fragments of a downed drone fell in the Solomyanskyi district.
Russian drones also targeted infrastructure facilities in Sumy and Chernihiv oblasts.
This follows a July 19 report by the mayor of the city of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Senkevych, of a devastating Russian missile strike on the residential area that killed at least three civilians, including a child.
