Terrorist from pro-russian Vostok gang detained in Vinnytsia
A member of a pro-Kremlin terrorist organization controlled by the Donetsk puppet authority has been apprehended in the city of Vinnytsia by Ukrainian counter-intelligence officers, Ukraine’s SBU security service announced on July 8.
The suspect is a resident of Donbas who joined the ranks of the Vostok group's reconnaissance company under the command of Russia's 1st Army Corps in 2014.
During the same year, he actively participated in the takeover of administrative buildings and critical infrastructure facilities in the city of Horlivka, the SBU says.
Prior to the Russian Federation's full-scale invasion, the suspected turncoat relocated to Vinnytsia with the intention of going into hiding. However, SBU officers managed to uncover his presence, the agency states.
The suspect has now been charged with participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organization. If convicted, the accused could face a maximum sentence of 15 years imprisonment.
