Ukrainian forces destroy Tor air defense system and TOS-1A flamethrower near Donetsk
In Donetsk Oblast, Ukrainian troops destroyed a Tor air defense system and a TOS-1A heavy flamethrower system Solntsepyok, reported commander of the Tavria Operational-Strategic Group, General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi in Telegram on Feb. 24.
In the Tavria front’s operational area, Russian losses over the past day amounted to 312 personnel and 26 pieces of military equipment, excluding UAVs.
Specifically, this includes three tanks, six armored combat vehicles, seven artillery systems, one MLRS, one air defense system, six vehicles, and two units of special equipment. Additionally, 281 UAVs of various types were neutralized or destroyed.
Tarnavskyi stated that in addition to tanks and armored personnel carriers, three quad bikes were also destroyed in Zaporizhzhya Oblast.
He added that the enemy launched 33 air and three missile strikes, 99 kamikaze drone strikes, engaged in 61 assaults, and shelled Ukrainian positions 1127 times, including three drops of chemical munitions from UAVs.
On Jan. 9, it was reported that the Special Operations Forces destroyed the Russian heavy flamethrower system (TOS-1A) Solntsepyok by firing HIMARS at it.
Solntsepyok fires unguided 220 mm caliber rockets weighing over 200 kg.
