Ukraine brings home another 50 of its soldiers from Russian captivity

Ukraine has returned another 50 of its soldiers from Russian captivity, Presidential Chief-of-Staff Andriy Yermak announced on the Telegram messenger on Nov. 24.
Yermak said those released included 20 members of the National Guard of Ukraine, 12 servicemen from the Naval Forces, 10 army servicemen, six border guards, and two soldiers of the territorial defense.
According to Yermak, two out of 50 released soldiers are officers, while another 48 are privates and sergeants.
“It’s important that we have managed to return 19 defenders of Mariupol, 12 of whom were evacuated from the Azovstal Steelworks, as well as 15 prisoners from the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant and seven from Zmiinyi (Snake) Island,” the official said.
Earlier on Nov. 23, Ukraine returned 35 troops and one civilian from Russian captivity. Those released included soldiers who had defended Mariupol, the Azovstal Steelworks, as well as military personnel from the National Guard who were captured at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant in the first days of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
