After a longer than usual pause, Russia may launch more missile attacks on Ukraine, Natalia Humeniuk, spokesperson for the Southern Ukraine Defense Forces, said on national television on Aug. 3.
The warning comes after Russia deployed a powerful naval group into the Black Seaand pounded southern Ukraine in a series of Shahen drone attacks designed to uncover Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense systems.
Russia has moved 17 ships in the Black Sea, with one vessel alternating in and out of the Azov Sea. The enemy also employs two missile carriers, both surface and submarine, with each capable of carrying up to 12 Kalibr missiles.
“This indicates that missile carriers were put on high alert precisely after the Shahed attack on one of the ports,” Humeniuk highlighted.
In the wake of the Shahed attacks, Russia is reportedly resorting to missile strikes, relying on data gathered during the analysis of the previous attack. The Russian Armed Forces are actively identifying anti-aircraft defense systems and plotting missile routes to maximize impact.
“We are on high alert, and we are warning the population about the danger. In the event of an air raid alarm, seek shelter immediately,” Humeniuk urged.
Russian forces launched a strike on Ukraine overnight on Aug. 3 using 15 Shahed-136/131 attack drones, all of which were successfully destroyed by Ukraine’s anti-aircraft defense.
The previous day, Russia fired 37 Shahed drones at Ukraine, with Ukraine neutralizing many.
The recent Russian strikes on warehouses and elevators in Izmail, Odesa Oblast, resulted in damage to nearly 40,000 tons of grain, intended for African, Chinese, and Israeli markets.
