Two family members of journalist killed in Lviv missile strike, another family miraculously escapes
As a result of the Russian missile strike on Lviv in the early hours of July 6, two family members of a prominent local journalist Volodymyr Sadovyi were killed, according to a social media post by his colleague.
“Tonight, the inhumane Muscovites took the lives of (family members of) a person who worked side by side with us at varta1.com.ua,” journalist Ihor Zinkevych said.
“Anastasiya Seniv and her mother Myroslava Sadova are no longer with us. They were the family of our guardian Volodymyr Sadovyi.”
“My sincere condolences, Volodya... Ulyana Sadova. We mourn with you...”
Meanwhile, journalists Pavlo Vuets and Natalia Sokyrchuk, who lived on the top floor of one of the buildings that was hit, managed to escape with their child just minutes before a Russian rocket struck.
Pavlo Tomilenko, the head of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, shared the news on Facebook, highlighting the miraculous escape of the family.
Tomilenko said that the journalists had relocated to Lviv from Kyiv due to the Russian invasion, but now, despite the perceived safety of Lviv, they have lost their home and their car.
According to news outlet Glavcom, Pavlo Vuets has working as a journalist for the publication since its inception. His wife, Natalia Sokyrchuk, worked as a correspondent for Glavcom until the spring of 2023.
On the night of July 6, air raid sirens sounded across all regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv. Russia launched 10 missiles at Ukraine, with 7 of them being intercepted by the air defense forces.
In Lviv, wreckage from a Russian missile struck a residential building, claiming four lives. Damage to critical infrastructure was also reported.
