The Kremlin reacts on deployment of first F-16s in Ukraine
Russian dictator's spokesman Dmitry Peskov claims that the F-16 jets received by Ukraine will be "shot down and destroyed," commenting on media reports about deployment of Western fighter jets, RIA Novosti propagandist news agency reported on Aug. 1.
He believes that first Western aircrafts "cannot have a significant impact" on the situation at the front.
F-16 fighters are not a "magic pill," Putin's spokesman says.
First batch of F-16s in Ukraine
Bloomberg on July 31 reported that Ukraine received the first batch of F-16 fighter jets. Later, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis confirmed this information.
According to The Times, the first six F-16s were delivered to Ukraine from the Netherlands. Several more fighters are due to arrive soon from Denmark, The Times' sources said.
The Telegraph has learned that Ukrainian pilots have already made their first combat missions in Ukraine using F-16s. According to the British newspaper, these aircraft have so far been used as additional means of air defense for Ukraine to protect against Russian strikes.
Representatives of the Ukrainian government and military have not yet officially confirmed the information about the transfer of Western fighters.
