Russia attacks Kyiv with jet-powered Shahed drones in daytime

Russian forces attacked Kyiv with jet-powered Shahed drones during the day on Sept. 22. Explosions were heard in the capital, and Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko reported air defenses were active.
Drone debris fell on a parking lot in Kyiv's Darnytskyi district, but no fire was reported by Klitschko.
At 1:23 p.m., the Air Force reported jet-powered drones moving toward Kyiv city and oblast.
Because of the heightened air threat to the capital, on the instruction of Ukrainian Railways’ monitoring group, local commuter train service was temporarily suspended in both directions, Kyiv City Express reported.
"We ask you to be careful during safety stops," the statement said. “Stay at least 200 meters (about 220 yards) from railway infrastructure or in shelters. Ring-line service will resume once the air threat has passed.”
Overnight into Sept. 22, Russian forces carried out a massive attack on Ukraine, using dozens of missiles and 212 drones of various types. A multi-story residential building in Kyiv was hit, and four people were injured.
