Starmer assures Zelenskyy of ‘unwavering’ support for Ukraine

In a phone call with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, new UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer assured that London’s support will remain “unwaveringly principled,” Zelenskyy said in a Telegram post on July 5.
Zelenskyy noted that they discussed their countries' positions ahead of the July 9-11 NATO summit in Washington, as well as other international events.
“We discussed continuing bilateral cooperation, including the preparation of an unprecedented 100-year agreement between Ukraine and the United Kingdom,” said the president.
“I congratulated Sir Keir Starmer on winning the election and wished him well in meeting the expectation the British people have for the new government.”
Earlier on July 5, King Charles III invited Starmer to form a new government, following a landslide Labour victory in the general elections. Winning a nearly record-breaking parliamentary majority, the Labour Party has now ended the 14 years of Conservative rule in the UK.
