Top NABU officer nabbed over ties to Russia
Ruslan Magamedrasulov, head of an interregional detective department at the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), was detained on suspicion of conducting business in Russia in a joint operation with the Prosecutor General Office, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) reported on Telegram on July 21.
Magamedrasulov coordinates the NABU activities in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhya oblasts. He was accused of facilitating illegal trade with Russia through his father and of having contacts with Russian special services. It was discovered that his father holds Russian citizenship, a fact that was not disclosed when Magamedrasulov applied for access to state secrets.
The investigation also raised concerns about his interactions with Fedir Khristenko, a fugitive MP linked to the Russian special services.
The SBU also found evidence that the suspect's mother supports Russia's actions against Ukraine and justifies Russian war crimes.
Magamedrasulov, who was supposed to be stationed in Dnipro, spent most of his time in Kyiv. He recently returned from a several-week-long luxury vacation in Tenerife.
Authorities are considering informing him of suspicion of aiding an aggressor state under Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
