Russian airstrikes in Kharkiv decline as Ukrainian troops hold firm
Russian air activity in the Kharkiv region has significantly decreased, with the enemy now using only two to four guided bombs (KABs) per day, compared to dozens of airstrikes in previous periods, said Vitaliy Saranstsev, spokesperson for the Kharkiv operational-tactical group, on national TV on Aug. 15.
"This could be due to Russia concentrating its efforts on other fronts or a reduction in aircraft, ammunition, and fuel after Ukrainian strikes on Russian airfields," Saranstsev explained.
Despite the reduced air activity, the situation remains tense, with continued Russian attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses.
"There have been no changes in the occupiers' positions, and the control zone hasn't expanded. We are maintaining full control of the situation," Saranstsev added.
On Aug. 14, Kharkiv Regional Military Administration head Oleh Synyehubov stated that Ukrainian military operations in Russia's Kursk region have not impacted the military situation in northern Kharkiv. While there is some movement of Russian reserves, it's not significant.
Battalion commander Dmytro Kholod reported that Russia has been redeploying its occupying forces from Crimea, Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv to the Kursk region to counter Ukrainian advances.
