Wife of pro-Russian politician who worked with FSB was detained in Vinnytsia Oblast

The wife of a former Party of Regions official who headed the local district council until 2015 worked as an FSB agent who collected data on the location of the Defense Forces and supported Russian aggression, was detained, Ukraine’s SBU security service reported on Telegram on March 11.
According to the investigation, she tried to identify airfields with Ukrainian military aircraft and map the location of air defense near aviation facilities.
The woman was also geolocated medical facilities where Ukrainian soldiers were treated. Russia planned to use all this information to prepare strikes on Vinnytsia Oblast.
SBU notes that the agent was detected before she caused any harm. The investigation revealed that she also called for supporting Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on social media.
She was notified of suspicion under five articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, including high treason, calls for aggressive war and the overthrow of the constitutional order, and encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, the Prosecutor General's Office said.
Between July and October 2023, the suspect passed information about the location of military units, checkpoints, air force and air defense facilities in the region to her Russian overseer at least eight times, the statement reads.
During the searches, law enforcement officers seized a phone and a tablet used by the FSB spy to communicate with Russian special services. The offender is in custody and faces life imprisonment.
In February, SBU completed a pre-trial investigation into the case of former OPFL MP Vadym Rabinovych, who spread anti-Ukrainian propaganda in Europe.
