Russian forces expected to shift to defense in approximately six weeks - National Guard Commander
The Russian army will lose the opportunity to conduct active assaults and will go on the defensive in the next month or a half, the National Guard commander, Brigadier General Oleksandr Pivnenko told Ukrinform on July 25.
The situation at the front is difficult for now, but the Russia's offensive capabilities are limited, especially if taking into account their huge losses, he said.
"I think, another month or a half - and they will not be able to conduct active assaults in many directions at once and will be on the defensive in any case," said Pivnenko.
"And we need to form our units and prepare them."
In order to break through the front, the Defense Forces must look for the enemy's weak points and bypass the strong ones, he added.
Management model adaptation is also necessary, at the same time, radical systemic changes take time.
Russia has adapted to life in the conditions of a war economy and is ready to fight for at least 3-4 years, so Ukraine's partners are focused on long-term support, according to NATO, the Voice of America wrote on July 10.
If Russia continues to act as it is now, its forces will need five years to completely capture Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhya oblasts, the UK's General Staff Chief Raleigh Walker said.
