Disinformation campaign plans to target Ukraine’s top leadership in foreign media, HUR says

Russian forces are preparing to launch a disinformation campaign against Ukraine’s top leadership, Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) warned on Telegram on Dec. 6.
This campaign will consist of publications containing disinformation about military and political leaders and will be published in English, the statement said.
HUR noted that the campaign will be orchestrated by non-Russian journalists long associated with the regime of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
Russian propagandists have long relied on friendly and incurious foreigners to spread lies — one notable example includes Seymour Hersh, a U.S. former journalist who has disseminated multiple Russian propaganda stories.
The stated goal of these actions is to divide Ukrainian society, according to HUR.
