Russia is copying ISIS, says Zelenskyy’s chief of staff after Odesa devastated
The world should not leave Russia's overnight missile strike on Odesa without response, Presidential Office head, Andriy Yermak, said on Telegram on July 23.
"These are deliberate attacks by Russian terrorists who repeat the practices of ISIS," he said.
He listed five ways to respond:
- Long-range missiles for Ukraine. They will destroy the enemy's capabilities to launch these strikes.
- Rapid delivery of additional missile defense systems to protect Ukrainian skies. Modern Western missile defense systems, which Ukraine has received in small numbers, can shoot down the types of missiles the enemy used to attack Odesa.
- Further strengthen economic sanctions, making it impossible for the Russian military-industrial complex to operate.
- International isolation of Russia, both by Western countries and the states of the Global South.
- Ukrainian Crimea should be demilitarized from Russian forces.
Russian troops launched their largest attack yet on the historic center of Odesa on July 23, firing five types of missiles. Ukraine managed to eliminated nine of 19 missiles in the devastating attack that killed one, injured 22, and destroyed several historic buildings, including the Transfiguration Cathedral.
