Zelenskyy urges G7 to slash Kremlin’s oil revenues amid Russian terror attacks on Kharkiv and Odesa
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has responded to the Russian nighttime Shahed drone strike against Ukraine's cities and civilians in his post on Telegram on June 20.
Russia conducted a massive drone attack on Odesa, Kharkiv, and their suburbs, using more than 20 strike drones.
Around 20 people were injured, including two girls aged 12 and 17, and three rescuers from the State Emergency Service (SES) who had arrived at the scene after the strike. One person was killed in Odesa.
According to Zelenskyy, 132 emergency workers and over 30 units of equipment were deployed to the attack sites.
He stressed that Russia's attacks are part of a deliberate terror tactic aimed at Ukrainian civilians.
“And for this specific tactic, there must be a strong response — one that hits Russia hard and limits its ability to keep waging war," he wrote.
"The G7 and EU know the recipe: strong pressure, sanctions against Russian energy and its shadow fleet, a $30 price cap on Russian oil. The sooner the sick minds in the Kremlin lose the ability to fund the war, the more lives we can save in Ukraine.”
On the evening of June 19, the Russian military launched a wave of attack UAVs toward Ukraine. Air raid alerts were declared across multiple oblasts, and a series of explosions was reported in Kharkiv.
In Odesa, over 10 drone strikes were recorded. The attacks triggered large-scale fires, including one that completely destroyed a four-story residential building.
Ukrainian Air Force later reported that Russia launched 86 Shaheds and decoy drones overnight. Ukrainian air defenses shot down 70.
