Russia funds NGOs to sow discord between Ukrainians at home and abroad

Moscow is funding the work of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to create divisions between Ukrainians who remain in the country and those who have left, Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) reported on Aug. 21.
The CCD is run by the National Security and Defense Council.
According to CCD director Andriy Kovalenko, Russia is establishing NGOs targeting Ukrainians abroad through its network of agents.
“In many of these organizations, they work with Ukrainians by providing legal services, helping them find housing and jobs,” said Kovalenko.
“They also fund information activities aimed at creating discord between those in Ukraine and those who have left.”
Kovalenko added that individual social media influencers based abroad are also being funded, "whose task is to sow these divisions."
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
