Russian collaborators are being evacuated
from occupied Kamianka-Dniprovska in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhya
Oblast, head of Nikopol District Administration, Yevhen Yevtushenko, said
in a Telegram post on April 25. Kamianka-Dniprovska lies just across the Dnipro
River from Nikopol.
Buses have arrived to transport them, according to local residents.
“A young family tried to register for evacuation, but the (occupation) administration refused,” said Yevtushenko.
“Currently, only top collaborators are being evacuated, while the rest are waiting for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. People are afraid that before their departure, the Russians will stage a provocation with mass casualties to blame it on Ukraine.”
Recently, there has been much discussion of a possible offensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in certain areas on the left bank of the Dnipro River in the adjacent Kherson Oblast.
According to The New York Times, Ukraine is preparing to launch a counter-offensive against Russian forces as early as next month.
Journalists say that although Ukraine shares few details of its operational plan with U.S. officials, the operation is likely to unfold in the country’s south, including along Ukraine’s coastline on the Sea of Azov, near the Russia-occupied Crimea.
