Romania sounds air raid alerts as Russian drone debris poses danger
Romania issued an air raid alert for the second consecutive night due to the risk of debris from downed Russian drones following attacks on the border regions of Odesa Oblast, the Romanian news channel Digi24 reported on July 25.
Residents of Romania's Tulcea County received RO-Alert notifications warning of potential debris from downed drones. However, no emergency calls were made to 112, Romanian emergency services said.
Romania was not targeted by Russian attacks, but alerts were issued due to potential danger from falling debris during Russian attacks on Ukraine. Russia launched 38 drones at Ukraine overnight on July 25, with Ukrainian air defense forces downing 25 Shahed drones. Three drones crossed into Romania.
The Russian attack on Odesa Oblast injured two people and partially damaged an administrative building, causing a fire that was quickly extinguished.
Romania also issued an alert after a Russian attack on Odesa Oblast on July 23, when residents near the border heard explosions. During that attack, Russians targeted port infrastructure in Izmail, Odesa Oblast.
