Polish FM to Pope: 'No need for Ukraine talks If Putin withdraws troops'

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has responded to Pope Francis' statement on Ukraine's "white flag" in an X post on March 10.
If Putin is encouraged to withdraw his troops, then negotiations will not be needed.
"How about we encourage Putin to have the courage to withdraw his army from Ukraine for balance? Peace would immediately come without the need for negotiations," the Polish diplomat said.
Pope Francis said earlier that Ukraine in the war with Russia "must have the courage" of the white flag and go to negotiations.
The head of the Vatican press service, Matteo Bruni, explained the Pope's statement, noting that he had picked up the image of "a white flag to signify the cessation of hostilities, a truce that should be achieved through the courage to negotiate" suggested by a journalist.
President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs also reacted to Pope Francis' statement. He emphasized that "one cannot capitulate to evil, one must fight it and defeat it so that evil raises a white flag and surrenders."
