Ukraine may use its last Patriot and NASAMS missiles to wear down Russian aviation — Forbes
The Ukrainian Air Force aims to use the last few missiles for the Patriot and NASAMS surface-to-air missile launchers to inflict losses to the Russian Air Force and thus prevent future bombings, Forbes reported.
The Air Force reported it has shot down 10 Russian warplanes in 10 days: nine of the Russian air force’s best Su-34 and Su-35 fighter-bombers, and also a rare A-50 radar plane, the publication reported.
It is possible Ukraine has assigned some of its American-made Patriot missile launchers to mobile air-defense groups closer to the frontline in order to ambush Russian jets, Forbes said.
Ukraine will be at risk being without its best air defense missiles, as the Patriot and NASAMS are American-made systems, and the US has not supplied any ammunition to Ukraine since late December following Congress blocking a vote on further aid supplies.
Biden met with the four Congress leaders on Feb. 27, and emphasized the "urgent need" to allocate aid to Ukraine.
"I think the consequence of inaction every day in Ukraine is dire. I’ve been speaking to some of our G7 partners, and they’re very concerned," Biden said.
