Moscow threatens UK military response over Cameron’s weapon remarks

Russia has issued a direct threat to strike UK military facilities in response to comments by British Prime Minister David Cameron, according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry dated May 6.
Russian Foreign Ministry summoned British Ambassador Nigel Casey and “expressed a strong protest” after British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said that Ukraine has the right to strike at Russian territory with British weapons.
Russia's Foreign Ministry complained that Cameron's words “contradict previous assurances from British side” that British long-range missiles would not be used for attacks on Russian territory.
“N. Casey was warned that any UK military facilities and equipment in Ukraine and abroad could be targeted in response to Ukrainian strikes using British weapons on Russian territory,” Russian Foreign Office claimed.
Ambassador was also threatened with “catastrophic consequences” and urged to “think about it.”
David Cameron, who visited Ukraine last week, said that Ukraine has the right to use weapons provided by London to strike targets in Russia.
During his visit, Cameron also started negotiations on a 100-year partnership with Ukraine.
