Latvia is sending over 500 drones to Ukraine as part of the drone coalition, Latvian Defense Minister Andris Sprūds announced on X on July 22.
The Latvian Defense Ministry earlier reported that, throughout July, Latvia would provide a new batch of drones to Ukrainian forces as part of the coalition effort. This shipment comprises 2,500 drones of various types, with a total value of EUR 4 million ($4.35 million).
Drone Coalition for Ukraine
The drone coalition was created by Ukraine and Latvia, and the decision was made during Sprūds visit to Kyiv in December 2023.
The coalition is led by the United Kingdom and Latvia. Other members include Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, and Sweden.
Sprūds announced in May that Latvia will invest EUR 20 million ($21.75 million) in 2024 in the drone coalition to support Ukraine. Latvia will spend the same amount on drones for the Latvian army.
