Ukrainian energy facilities untouched by latest Russian night attack

During a national telethon, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Energy, Mykola Kolisnyk, reported that there were no hits on power system facilities in the Russian army’s night attack on June 7. However, he warned that Russia will continue to target Ukraine’s energy sector, aiming for a complete blackout.
"Fortunately, no energy facilities were affected during the last attack. However, the enemy does not abandon the hope of targeting civilian energy infrastructure. Their goal is a complete blackout," said Mykola Kolisnyk.
Kolisnyk noted that the situation in Ukraine's energy system remains difficult.
"We have lost more than 9 gigawatts of power. This is the result of a challenging situation in the power system. It leads to a shortage of generating capacity, as both thermal generation facilities and hydroelectric power plants, as well as distribution networks, are affected. This results in certain network restrictions on the transmission of electricity," he added.
A massive attack by the Russians on June 7
On the night of June 7, Russian forces launched cruise missiles and deployed dozens of drones over Ukraine. Four Tu-95 aircraft were involved, and the drones entered Ukraine in groups.
The attack lasted more than five hours, with cruise missiles reaching western oblasts and explosions heard in Khmelnytskyi Oblast. In Kyiv Oblast, a fire broke out at an industrial facility due to the attack.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that they destroyed 48 out of 53 Shahed-131/136 attack drones and all five Kh-101/Kh-555 missiles. The targets were critical infrastructure across various oblasts of Ukraine.
