Andriy Buchak, former journalist-turned-soldier from Luhansk, killed in action at 42

Andriy Buchak, who worked as a journalist in Luhansk in the 2000s and joined the military in 2014, has been killed in action on the frontline at the age of 42, his wife, Elena Buchak, reported on Facebook on Nov. 23.
"Forever 42… You left too soon," Olena wrote.
“Beloved husband, a true friend always ready to help, cheerful, a bit of a romantic, dreamer, enjoying life, loved to travel. A true patriot, who loved Ukraine and fought for its freedom. You will always be in my heart. Your will and spirit made me strong. I will try to live for both of us, no matter how hard it is. Heroes never die!”
Andriy joined the military in 2014. Before that, he was a participant in the Luhansk Maidan.
Citing data from the missing.com.ua portal, the Institute of Mass Information (IMI) notes that Andriy Buchak went missing on Aug. 13, 2024, near the village of Vodiane (Donetsk Oblast). IMI also reported that the defender became the 93rd media worker to die as a result of the full-scale war.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
